President Ahmadinejad’s Nuclear Remarks Get Wide Coverage

Islamabad, Feb 13, IRNA – The remarks of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Iran’s nuclear achievements received wide coverage in almost all Pakistani newspapers on Sunday. Daily ‘Dawn’ quoted President Ahmadinejad as saying that the Islamic Republic, targeted by tougher western sanctions, would soon announce advances in its nuclear program. The President was speaking on the 33rd victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution that toppled the US-backed Shah. Tens of thousands of Iranians joined rallies to mark the occasion. “In the coming days the world will witness Iran’s announcement of its very important and major nuclear achievements,” daily Dawn quoted Ahmadinejad. ‘The News’ and ‘The Nation’ both reported that the Iranian President said that the Islamic Republic would soon announce 'very important' achievements in the nuclear field. Tens of thousands of Iranians joined rallies across the country to mark the occasion, the two dailies wrote. The two Pakistani dailies of ‘Daily Times’ and ‘Pakistan Today’ also in their reports said that President Ahmadinejad has vowed to inaugurate “important nuclear projects” within days and lashed out at Israel, saying the “story” of the Holocaust underpinning its existence had been “smashed”. Ahmadinejad said his nation will “never yield” to Western sanctions and threats of military action from Israel and the United States, they added. A large crowd of people in central Tehran cheered Ahmadinejad’s words. Many held placards declaring “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”. ‘Business Recorder’ also said that Iran will soon announce nuclear progress. Demonstrators carrying Iranian flags and pictures of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei chanted 'Death to Israel' and 'Death to America', it said. ‘Pakistan Observer’ said Iran will soon unveil “big new” nuclear achievements. ‘Express Tribune’ quoted President Ahmadinejad as saying that the Islamic Republic, targeted by western sanctions, would soon announce advances in its nuclear program. ‘Frontier Post’ reported that Iran would soon announce important achievements in the nuclear field. Local news dailies ‘Jang’ and Nawa-i-waqt reported that Iranian President said that the Islamic Republic would soon announce 'very important' achievements in the nuclear field. ‘Khabrain’ quoted the Iranian President as saying that Iran won’t accept any pressure on our peaceful nuclear program ‘Express’ reported that Iran to present major Nuclear projects ‘in days’. /end
