President Ahmadinejad: HR, Nuclear Issues Tools For Enemies To Extend Hostility Against Iran

Tehran, Jan 16, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Wednesday that issues such as the human rights and Iran’s nuclear activities were just tools in the hands of the enemies of the country to extend their hostility against the Iranian nation. He made the remarks while addressing the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) on the country’s major economic issues. The President said that enemies were willing to stop Iran’s progress and were opposed the constructive measures taken by the country's government and its parliament. He also stressed that policy-makers of the arrogant powers have focused on the issues of human rights and nuclear activities just as instruments to continue their animosity towards the Iranian nation. President Ahmadinejad stressed that Iran has repeatedly clarified to the world the peaceful nature of its nuclear program in a way that, he said, "there is no more vague points left about it." However, referring to the issue of the human rights, the President noted, when Iran defended its human rights records, "it does not mean that the country faces no problems in this regard." Recalling a story from the days when the first Shiite Imam Ali was upset witnessing a young Jewish girl offended in his time of ruling, the president said, "The story teaches the Iranian officials that even one single case of oppressive behavior should not be tolerated." Noting that no one in the world could ever claim that the rights of the people were utterly observed and safeguarded in their countries, the President said seemingly the main problem for the enemies of Iran was not really the country's human rights situation but, instead, the progresses made by the Iranian nation. However, the President suggested that Iranian officials should not behave in a way which "helps enemies take advantage from the formers' performances." President Ahmadinejad went on to express confidence that the Iranian nation would be able to overcome shortcomings and cases of injustice relying on its capabilities and with the help of the Almighty./end
