PRESIDENT AND JAPANESE PM HOLD OFFICIAL TALKS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ With the working visit to Japan, the President of Mongolia Mr Elbegdorj and the Prime Minister of Japan Mr Shinzo Abe Tuesday held official talks and signed a joint statement in Tokyo. The Prime Minister Abe thanked the Mongolian President for attending the Mongolia-Japan business forum, organized by the KEIDANREN, and expressed a satisfaction with reaching a principal agreement for establishing an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) within the leadership of Mr Elbegdorj. Mentioning that the Mongolia-Japan relations have been developing at a high level, "hope that they will widen". The President Mr Elbegdorj noted that the bilateral ties have been intensifying since the visit of Mr Abe to Mongolia, and expressed a satisfaction with a realization of the proposals put forward by the Prime Minister. “I am really happy with reaching our principal agreement for establishing EPA as a result of efforts of the two countries’ governments,” he said. Mr Elbegdorj also expressed a confidence that the EPA will create a good environment for businessmen and investors and sustainable legal ties for them. The EPA is expected to be signed and ratified in a first quarter of the next year, he added.
