President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev receives delegation led by Chairman of Serbian Olympic Committee

Baku, February 27 (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on February 27 received delegation led by Mr. Vlade Divac, Chairman of the Olympic Committee of Serbia and founder of the Foundation Ana & Vlade Divac. The Azerbaijani President said bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are developing successfully. Stressing that the two countries have established a strong partnership, President Ilham Aliyev recalled Serbian President Boris Tadic’s visit to Azerbaijan and his visit to Serbia. The Head of Azerbaijani state emphasized the importance of mutual visits for the expansion of bilateral ties. The President stressed both countries should boost cooperation in the field of sports. Vlade Divac, in turn, personally thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the ongoing work aimed at the development of the region. He emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia in the humanitarian sphere. The Serbian official said that Azerbaijani President was honored with a "Worthy Friend of the Balkans" state award founded by Foundation Ana & Vlade Divac for “his invaluable contribution to comprehensive development of Azerbaijan-Balkan relationship, special services in deepening relations between peoples of Azerbaijan and Balkan states, reconstruction and repair of Tašmajdan Park and Bayraklı Camii mosque in Belgrade, establishment of memorial complex of prominent Azerbaijani composer Uzeir Hajibeyli in Novi Sad and construction of Chapel of St. Petka, restoration of Novi Pazar Culture House, support for reconstruction of the Baku street and Friendship park in Sarajevo, humanitarian aid to the Foundation of Infant, Children and Teenagers Welfare in Belgrade, refugees in Vojvodina province, as well residents of Virpazar suffered from heavy rains in Montenegro, support for publishing Serbian writer Milorad Pavic’s “Caspian dictionary” book in Azerbaijani language, decision on erection of the Serbian scientist Nikola Teslan’s statue in Baku and other services.” Foundation Ana & Vlade Divac (HOD) was founded on 28th June 2007 as an independent nonprofit organization with a mission to provide aid to civilians especially refugees with practical solutions to their vital and existential problems by focusing on solving their housing problems in particular. The Foundation is co-founded by famous basketball player and the president of the Serbian Olympic Committee Vlade Divac and his wife Ana, initiators of numerous humanitarian projects during the course of the last 20 years of their humanitarian work.
