President Elect To Prioritize Papua Visit

Jakarta, Sept 17 (Antara) - President-elect Joko Widodo is prioritizing the good-will visit of his new government to Papua in a bid to accelerate the development in eastern Indonesia, Eko P. Sandjojo, the transition team`s spokesperson noted here on Wednesday. "Joko Widodo is planning to visit Papua shortly after his inauguration, which is related to the remote area development programs," noted Eko in a discussion titled "Professional Placement Cabinet Jokowi-JK" held in Gedung Joang, Jakarta, on Wednesday. Eko remarked that President-elect Joko Widodo will pay greater attention to develop the remote areas. The visit is expected to generate public confidence in the next state`s administration headed by Joko Widodo. "The problem that has been faced by the people of Papua is the lack of confidence in their leaders. Hence, the visit was also intended to generate trust in the community in order to work together to develop the area," Eko affirmed. Currently, Eko revealed that several development programs in Papua are still stuck in the pipeline due to lack of proactive leadership. Therefore, Jokowi hopes to gain the public`s trust in Papua with emphasis on the development of infrastructure, agriculture, and plantation sectors until the programs are completed.
