President: This election showed that anti-national forces have no place on Azerbaijan’s political stage

Baku, April 18, AZERTAC “We have observed positive tendencies in the culture of political struggle in Azerbaijan in the past 15 years. This was once again confirmed by the presidential election,” said President Ilham Aliyev at the swearing-in ceremony. “There were quite a few critical thoughts in the speeches of the candidates. I applaud this and regard it as a positive case. This shows that the political struggle is developing on the right track. I have to note that the issues raised by the candidates during the election campaign will be carefully reviewed and the valuable offers will be taken into account. In a word, over these 15 years we have been trying to ensure civil political struggle in Azerbaijan, and we have achieved this to a great extent. Using the opportunity, I want to thank all the candidates taking part in the elections. I wish them success in their future endeavors.” “As regards the anti-national group, they became fully marginal and this election once more showed that they have no place on Azerbaijan’s political stage. Their place has long ago been determined by the Azerbaijani people – it is the trash bin of the history. The Azerbaijani people once more put the elements, who operate with foreign grants and donations, who oppose their own countries, who betray their nation in many cases, in their place. Their meetings held before and after the election once again showed that the Azerbaijani people will never let any group controlled from abroad take any position in the country,” the head of state added.
