Tehran, July 10, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad felicitated beginning of the holy fasting month of Ramadan to heads of the Islamic states and Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu Tuesday evening. President Ahmadinejad, in separate messages, expressed hope that solidarity of Muslims would be further strengthened during the holy month. He also hoped that during Ramadan, world would experience lasting peace and stability and would be freed from discrimination and oppression. Ahmadnejand also wished for further progress and prosperity of all Muslim nations. The holy fasting month of Ramadan started in Iran Wednesday (July 10) and will last for 30 days this year. The advent of Ramadan may vary from country to country depending on the situation of the moon. Since the new moon is not in the same state at the same time globally, the beginning and ending dates of Ramadan depend on what lunar sightings are received in each location. As a result, Ramadan dates vary in different countries, but usually only by a day./end
