President Gul: Iran Must Participate In Resolving Syria Crisis

Ankara, June 1, IRNA – Turkeyˈs President Abdullah Gul emphasized need for Iranˈs participation in process of seeking a political solution for Syrian crisis. According to the website of Turkeyˈs Hurriat daily, President Gul made the remark on his way back from Turkmenistan during a press conference in response to a question on how the Syrian crisis can come to an end. ˈIn the absence of Iran and Russia, seeking a peaceful solution for the Syrian crisis would be impossible,ˈ the Hurriat daily quoted Gul as saying. ˈThe Syrian crisis is today moving towards becoming a religious war, which is very dangerous for the Islamic world,ˈ Gul said. Gul was in Turkmenistan heading a top delegation comprising of Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz, Minister of Sciences, Technology and Industries, and a number of parliament members, job creators, journalists, and state organs officials. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, too, had on Tuesday referred to Iranˈs great influence in Middle East, announcing Iranˈs presence at International Conference on Syria./end
