President Gul says has discomfort with law on match-fixing

ANKARA (A.A) - November 30, 2011 - Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Wednesday that he had discomfort with a legislation that decreased penalties in cases of match-fixing. Speaking to reporters at Ankara's Esenboga International Airport prior to his departure for Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday, President Gul said that the law adopted on match-fixing six months ago should have been better. Gul's comments came after the Turkish Parliament has recently adopted a law that brought down the amount of penalties in cases of match-fixing. The fact that the law has been amended in the first period of its implementation necessitates close scrutiny, President Gul said.
