President Gul Stresses Presence Of Iran In Geneva Meet

Ankara, Sept 23, IRNA – Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul said the Geneva-2 meeting is unlikely to achieve any success in working out a solution to the Syrian crisis in the absence of Iran. Talking to reporters in New York where he is to attend the annual United Nations General Assembly meeting, he said Iran enjoys principled and basic policies in all areas. Noting that Iran has a large number of experienced and rationalist diplomats, he said he will meet with his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rohani on the sideline of the UN meeting. He reiterated that if Iran is neglected in the process of settling Syrian crisis, then there will be no success and the Geneva-2 meeting, too, will fail. Stressing that new era has already started in Iran by election of President Rohani, he said this is evident from the appointments he has already made. The Turkish president reiterated that Tehran is not expected to withdraw from its basic policies./end
