President: If US Behavior Changes, Iran Will Consider Direct Talks

Cairo, Feb 6, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in reaction to US proposal for holding direct talks with Iran, said Iran evaluates the new proposal ˈpositiveˈ, adding if US changes its behavior, Iran will consider the proposal. He made the remark in a meeting with Egyptian media persons. Ahmadinejad, heading a high ranking delegation, arrived in Cairo on Tuesday to attend summit meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Ahmadinejad, who is the rotating chairman of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), too, is in Cairo at the official invitation of Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi. The 12th summit meeting of OIC member states will kicks off its 2-day work on Wednesday February 6, 2013. The meeting will consider the most important problems of the Islamic world, especially ways to settle crises in Syria, Mali and Palestine. It is expected that the president hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with heads of a number of states. The meeting was scheduled to be held in Egypt on March 15, 2011, but it was postponed due to political unrest in that country./end
