President Inaugurates Persian Gulf Desalination Project In Southern Iran

Tehran, May 16, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inaugurated on Thursday the construction project of a desalination plant in the city provincial capital city of Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Province, in southern Iran. After being operational, the plant will change the Persian Gulf's waters into fresh waters for drinking, industrial and agricultural uses of local residents. It will also provide fresh water for residents of two other provinces including the neighboring province of Kerman, southeastern Iran, and the Yaz Province in central parts of the country. The desalination plant is located some 30 km west of Bandar Abbas. Speaking in the inaugural ceremony, President Ahmadinejad hoped that the project would be implemented soon thanks to the efforts of the Iranian experts and workers./end
