President: Iran Favors Co-op With Govts Supplying N-power Plants

Bushehr, Sept 24, IRNA – President Hassan Rohani said on Monday that Iran is eager to cooperate with governments supplying nuclear power plants. President Rohani made the remark in a message to a ceremony marking delivery of the first 1,000-megawatt unit of Bushehr power plant. Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali-Akbar Salehi, and Energy Minister, Hamid Chitchian were present in the ceremony. “Thank God the bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia and despite delays, the time has come for temporary delivery of Bushehr power plant; I congratulate the great Iranian nation on the auspicious event,” read the president’s message. The president said thanks to the great endeavors of Iranian youth and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strategic policies for development of modern technologies, the country pioneers having nuclear power plant in the Muslim World. He emphasized that mutual cooperation between Iran and Russia over the past few decades has been on the rise and Bushehr power plant is symbol of cooperation. Recalling unfavorable consequences of nuclear incidents, the president said unfavorable consequences of nuclear incidents, including the event in Fokoshima, are a seal of approval to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s approach to having full confidence in safety of the power plant and non-eruption of likely dangers. Stressing the IAEA’s Atom For Peace motto, Rohani hoped that all countries would move for materialization of the slogan and that the Islamic Republic of Iran would as before be pioneer of the lofty goal./end
