President: Iran's Presence In UN, Essential

Tehran, Sept 29, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday that the United Nations is a main international organization and the presence of Iranian nation in it is a necessity. Upon arrival in Mehrabad Airport, he added that the UN is the only venue in the world where the nations present their views on the issues of international concern. Stating that UN provides a suitable opportunity to hold dialogue with other countries' officials and presenting Iran's viewpoints regarding the international issue, he added that two main lectures were delivered in the UN, one in General Assembly and the other during the meeting themed ‘rule of law’. He also noted that 12 interviews with different media, eight political meetings with other countries’ officials and meeting with intellectuals opposing US' war policies were held during his stay in New York. 'Iran’s viewpoints on various international issues were welcomed by the world media and intellectuals,' he said. The interviews were aimed at conveying the Iranian nation's message to other nations, on the one hand, and hold dialogue with other nations, on the other, he said, adding that most of the media are run by those who do not want voice of the Iranian nation to be heard by others. Noting that Syrian crisis was among the topics discussed during meetings, Ahmadinejad said that Iran as president of NAM was assigned to set up a contact group to establish peace and security in the Arab state. 'The issue was raised on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, some other countries voiced their readiness to attend the group,' he said. Stating that the nations are currently seeking the sublime divine ideals, establishment of monotheism, justice, affection and elimination of tyranny, he added that if the Americans are seeking the realities, promoting monotheism and justice, and removing bullying do not belong to a special nation./end
