President Jokowi to visit East Java, Sulawesi

Jakarta, Aug 1 (Antara) - President Joko Widodo or famously known by "Jokowi" is conducting a three-day working visit to East Java and Sulawesi from August 1 to 3. Along with his entourage, the president departed from Halim Perdanakusumah Airbase in Jakarta aboard a Presidential Plane for Surabaya, East Java, on Saturday. General Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Megawati Soekarnoputri, Coordinating Minister for Human Resource Development and Culture Puan Maharani, and Minister of Education Anies Baswedan are among those accompanying him. At 8 p.m., Jokowi is scheduled to open the 33rd Congress of Nadhlatul Ulama, which is one of the biggest Islamic organizations in the country. On Sunday, he will leave for Banggai district in Central Sulawesi to inaugurate a project of Pertamina in the village of Uso. This project of the state-owned oil company is related to the development of an integrated upstream and downstream gas industry. It is a joint venture among PT Pertamina's subsidiary Pertamina Hulu Energi, Medco Energi, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Korea Gas Corporation. On Monday, the head of state is scheduled to attend the opening of the 47th Congress of Muhammadiyah, another major Islamic organization in the country, and also attend the congress marking the 100th anniversary of Aisyiah, Muhammadiyah's women's wing.
