President: New Govt Foreign Policy Based On Moderation

Tehran, Aug 12, IRNA – President Hassan Rohani said Monday morning that his governments foreign policy is based on moderation to guarantee all-out development and security in the country. Addressing Iranian lawmakers in Majlis, President Rohani said, moderation means creating a balance between aspirations and realities. The President made the remarks while addressing MPs at the beginning of a Majlis session to debate competency of his proposed ministers. Rohani said he has repeatedly stressed that his governments foreign policy is based on preventing tensions and threats against national interests. It is also focused on confidence-building and making effective interaction with others, he added. By effective interaction, he said, We mean an interaction based on mutual respect and interests on the basis of equal footings to reach Iran's proper international status. President Rohani attended Majlis this morning to defend his 18 proposed ministers. He unveiled the list of his proposed cabinet members during his swearing-in ceremony on August 4. Out of the total 290 members of the Parliament, 231 lawmakers are present in today's session chaired by Speaker Ali Larijani./end
