President receives Yang Jiechi

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Mr Ts.Elbegdorj received Thursday Mr Yang Jiechi, the State Councilor of the People's Republic of China (PRC). Thanking Mr Yang for visiting Mongolia and China for an attention to the bilateral relations, the State Head underlined an importance of developing the good neighborhood and friendly relations and the long, sustainable, equal and mutually beneficial cooperation. "Our countries have been discussing some issues for a long time, now the time has come to implement them, and I hope Your talks with Mongolian Ministers and other officials have been successful," Mr Elbegdorj said. In response, Mr Yang thanked the President for the audience, and wished him a victory in the upcoming Presidential election. Then he conveyed to the State Head a greeting from the PRC President Xi Jinping. Mr Yang said the new government of China attaches a great importance to its relations with Mongolia and that Mr Xi shares this view. "The Chinese President emphasized that he respects the independence and territorial integrity of Mongolia at a meeting with the Parliament Speaker of Mongolia Z.Enkhbold, Mr Xi also said he respects a developmental way of the Mongolians and that is is ready to boost the bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation. It expresses a key principle of the ties with Mongolia and our willingness to develop the bilateral relations," Mr Yang said. "Meetings with the Mongolian Ministers have been fruitful, we have agreed to work out long- and middle-term programmes for the bilateral strategic relations," he said. Then he mentioned an importance of the meeting between the two countries' State Heads, and said he is studying opportunities to hold such meeting during a high-level summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and to organize visits of the countries’ Premiers. He also underlined China backs an active role of Mongolia in the matters of international and regional peace and security. The President Elbegdorj conveyed his greeting and gratitude to his counterpart of China for delivering a special words, and expressed a hope that the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will visit Mongolia, saying that it would contribute to the cooperation between the governments and other organizations. Mr Elbegdorj said the State Head, parliament and government of Mongolia stand on a united position over matters to be tackled in the bilateral ties. The President also said the two countries have an opportunity to collaborate in the mining, processing livestock products, infrastructure and energy sectors. "As of being landlocked, Mongolia faces problems in tackling the transit transport issues. If they are decided, a freight turnover among Mongolia, China and Russia will increase definitely," Mr Elbegdorj said.
