PRIME MINISTER AND KEIDANREN REPS DISCUSS COOPERATION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On August 26, the Prime Minister of Mongolia Ch.Saikhanbileg received the representatives of Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, led by its chairman Sadayuki Sakakibara. Keidanren is taking part in the Mongolia-Japan Economic Forum, started on Wednesday in Ulaanbaatar, with a large group of delegates. The PM Saikhanbileg highlighted that the development of relations and cooperation in all spheres with Japan has always remained a priority in Mongolia’s foreign policy. He also emphasized the role of Keidanren in reaching strategic partnership and upgrading the business and economic interactions of Mongolia and Japan through increasing investment to the private sectors. He thanked for the active attendance in the economic forum, being hosted by Mongolia this year. The delegation includes, aside from Mr Sakakibara, a vice chairman of Keidanren and Chairman of the Board of Toyota Corporation Mr Takeshi Uchiyamada, a vice chairman Shunichi Miyanaga, president of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., a vice chairman of the Board of Councillors Setsuhiro Shimomura, an advisor at Mitsubishi Electric, a vice chairman of the Board of Councillors Yoichi Miyamoto, chairman of Shimizu Corporation, the co-chairman of Sub-Africa Committee Yutaka Kase, chairman of the Board of Sojitz Corporation, and the chairman of Committee on Foreign Affairs Takeo Obayashi, chairman of the Board of Obayashi Corporation. Japan has pledged to allocate annual funding of 110 billion USD for the five years to come, in order to promote infrastructure development in Asia. The Mongolian PM said that, in frames of this investment, Mongolia is interested in intensifying cooperation with Japan in the developments of infrastructure, mining and processing industries. Mongolian side aspires to introduce the businesses to Japan’s “know-how”, basing on the Mongolia-Japan economic partnership agreement, to commercialize our goods on Japan’s and other third markets, and to connect with the regional industrial network and economic federations, he noted. At the Mongolia-Japan Economic Forum, over 80 delegates will discuss issues regarding the current situation and future perspectives of Mongolian economy, investment environment, opportunities of Mongolia-Japan cooperation in economy, mining, road and transport, Mongolia’s opportunities of cooperation with other countries in energy, industry, food and agriculture.
