Prime Minister Medvedev to visit Vietnam and Thailand

MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will pay official visits to Vietnam and Thailand on April 6-8, the press service of the Russian government said on Tuesday. Medvedev will have talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguni Tan Dũng; meet Secretary General of the Communist party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President of Vietnam Truong Tan Shang and Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Sinh Hung. The sides are to discuss key aspects of bilateral relations with the emphasis laid on promotion of trade, economic and investment cooperation, including construction of a nuclear power plant in Vietnam, the realization of oil and gas projects, broadening cooperation in science, education, culture and tourism. "On the agenda is a draft agreement on a zone of free trade between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam," a source from the Russian government said. During the visit the Russian prime minister will visit Hồ Chí Minh City- the biggest economic center Vietnam, where the Russian prime minister will meet representatives of Russian and Vietnamese business. In Bangkok, Prime Minister Medvedev will meet his Thai counterpart Prayuth Chan-ocha to discuss bilateral relations and development of practical projects in trade, economics and investments, broader contacts in the field of culture and tourism. During the visit Dmitry Medvedev will meet members of the royal family, representatives of business circles of Thailand. Joint documents on cooperation between law enforcement structures of the two countries in the field of energy, agriculture and transport infrastructure will be signed, the press service said.
