Prime Minister meets Ambassador of India

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister J.Erdenebat said he believed the Mongolia-India close and friendly relations will continue for a long time when he received Monday Suresh Babu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Mongolia. “Although Mongolia is in an economic crisis now, the country’s government intends to realize a long-term policy for sustainable economy which focuses greater vision. Mongolia has to process natural resources and to produce value-added products instead of exporting raw minerals to foreign countries. Flows of mineral resources and agricultural raw materials should be restricted, so Mongolia wants to cooperate with India in developing processing industry,” the Premier said. In turn, Suresh Babu said he recently assumed his duty of Ambassador to Mongolia, and emphasized he appreciated a peaceful process of the 2016 parliamentary elections and transition of the political power in Mongolia. The Premier asked the Indian Ambassador to pay attention to some issues such as establishing an IT Center in Ulaanbaatar and a Mongolia-India joint school, and augmenting the number of Mongolian students to study in India. These issues were concurred between the countries during a visit of the India Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mongolia last year. As of today, Mongolia-India trade turnover ranges USD 15-20 million, but this is not big size, the Ambassador said, and asked the Prime Minister to focus attention to regularizing a bilateral business meeting and learning a possibility of opening the direct flight between Ulaanbaatar and Delhi in order to support inter-citizen travel.
