Pro-freedom Activist Warns Of Saudi-sponsored Terror In Bahrain

Berlin, Feb 16, IRNA-- A Berlin-based Bahraini pro-freedom activist lashed out at Saudi Arabia for its continued political interference in his country by even sending terror groups to the Persian Gulf sheikdom. Talking to IRNA in Berlin on the 3rd anniversary of the Bahraini uprising, Ali Al-Jallawi said the Saudis are ˈopenly sayingˈ they support the despotic Al-Khalifa regime. Saudi political interference in Bahrain is continuing while even the European Parliament has said it supports the Bahraini people and not the regime, he added. Al-Jallawi openly accused Riyadh of ˈsending terroristsˈ not only to Bahrain but also to other Middle Eastern and North African countries, including Iraq, Syria and Libya. Al-Jallawi stressed Saudi Arabia had become ˈa major source of terrorismˈ in the Mideast as the Al-Qaeda terror group is actually controlled by the Saudi secret service. ˈWhat we are witnessing now is the ˈmost uglyˈ face of Saudi politics in the region, the Bahraini activist said. Al-Jallawi urged European countries to step up their pressure on the Bahraini regime and end their arms sales to Saudi Arabia. ˈAll these tanks which invaded my country came from German factories. Our blood is now on their (German) hands,ˈ he said. If you donˈt want to help the Bahraini people in their struggle for freedom and democracy, at least donˈt be an accomplice in the killing of Bahrainis, Al-Jallawi reiterated. He accused western politicians of being indifferent to the Bahraini revolution because they depended on Saudi oil and money. Three years after the start of the Bahraini rebellion, the situation has dramatically deteriorated with even more killings and arrests, said Al-Jallawi. ˈThe situation has actually gotten worse in my country,ˈ the Bahraini writer added. Al-Jallawi called for establishing real democracy and upholding basic human rights in Bahrain./end
