Progress in N-talks considerable:Iranian FM

TEHRAN, Mar.1 (MNA) – In a press conference with his Italian counterpart, Iranian FM expressed hope this week’s nuclear negotiations would lead to more progress including the lifting of anti-Iranian sanctions. Mohamad Javad Zarif pointed to the good progress achieved so far in the course of the nuclear negotiations, adding the presence of Iran and the US nuclear technicians, Ali Akbar Salehi head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, in the Feb. 22 Geneva meeting had led to ‘considerable progress’ and some constructive discussions on how to reach a technical agreement on the nuclear issue. “On many other areas such as the nuclear-related issues as well as the issues on sanctions, differences still remain. We have asserted numerous times that the use of sanctions regime will never be of any help to achieve a goal and the US and other Western countries must realize that sanctions are not an investment but only an obstacle to reach an agreement,” said Zarif. Zarif also maintained that the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu opposes any kind of solution which reveals his efforts, vain as they are, to use an unrealistic formula and fictitious crisis to conceal the real happenings in the region, such as the occupation of Palestine and the violation of their absolute rights. Elsewhere, he commended the deep relations between Iran and Italy and expressed hope for a boost in bilateral ties in various fields. The Italian FM Paolo Gentiloni, for his part, expressed hope for a resolution in Iran and 5+1 nuclear talks, adding, “such a deal is crucial to the balance of the region and the world as a whole, and will provide the opportunity for further development in the relations between Tehran and Rome.” He also maintained that Italy would welcome the Iranian officials for exports in Milan in the near future.
