Proposal for meeting of Israeli, Palestinian leaders remains in force - Lavrov

DOHA, March 4. /TASS/. Moscow’s proposal for a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas remains in force, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after talks with his Qatari counterpart Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani on Tuesday. "At a certain point our Israeli counterparts, including Benjamin Netanyahu himself, asked us for it. Mahmoud Abbas agreed, too. Our proposal remains in force," Lavrov said. "We believe it would be a very important step at least in restoring trust. Without that it would be impossible to expect further progress in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement." Read more
