Protest leader asks caretaker govt to hold talks

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) - Anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban has asked caretaker premier Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisarn to confer with him on ways to resolve political problem in Thailand. Mr Suthep said at his major protest site at Lumpini Park in central Bangkok on Saturday (May 10) that if Mr Niwattumrong is sincere in solving Thailand’s political problem, he should discuss the problem with him on Monday at Santi Maitree Building in the Government House compound. Mr Suthep said he had already asked for permission from officials in using Santi Maitree Building as temporary office for the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) anti-government protesters. PDRC secretary-general Suthep also told protesters that the rally site at Lumpini Park would be dissolved late Sunday and protesters would move to gather at Government House as well as on nearby Ratchadamnoen Avenue. Meanwhile, PDRC protesters cleared out from MCOT Public Co., Ltd. compound to join with their colleagues at Lumpini Park and will later move to Government House. A dozen workers dispatched by Huai Kwang district office had cleaned the area after the protesters left. (TNA)
