Protesters urge more people to join Bangkok rally

BANGKOK, April 20 (TNA) - Anti-government protesters marched Sunday on Bangkok streets and urged more people to join them in a final battle, aimed at toppling the caretaker government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. Led by Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary-general of People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), the demonstrators began their marching from their rally site at Lumpini Park, located in central Bangkok. The anti-government protesters then marched along Silom Road, heading for Sathorn Road to the Asiatigue, the riverfront shopping mall for a distance of about eight kilometres. Mr. Suthep and core leaders of PDRC want more people to join them in a major demonstration, to be fixed later, in what they called the “final showdown” against the caretaker government which they have charged with corruption. PDRC protesters have begun their demonstration in the capital since last October 31. (TNA)
