Protests Against Possible US Strike On Syria Held Across Pakistan

Islamabad, Sept 15, IRNA – Thousands of Pakistanis have gathered across the country to back the Syrian government against any possible US military strike. Protests were held Friday evening in all major cities of Pakistan under the aegis of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM). A large rally was held in the city of Rawalpindi during which participants carried placards and banners inscribed with different slogans against US, Zionist regime and certain Arab states. MWM leaders on the occasion condemned any US possible strike on Syria. They urged the leaders of Muslim countries to unite and stop US from carrying out such attacks. They asked the government of Pakistan to come forward and play its due role in halting military strike on Syria. Talking to IRNA Allama Amin Shaheedi, deputy secretary general of the MWM, strongly condemned possible US strike on Syria and expressed solidarity with the oppressed nation of Syria. He also condemned the decision taken by the Pakistani political leaders in All Parties Conference to hold talks with Taliban. He said that Taliban have killed more than 50,000 civilians and security personnel in Pakistan so there is no justification for holding talks with terrorists. A large rally was held in Samanabad area of Lahore against the American aggression on Syria. The participants of the rally chanted anti-US slogans. Participants in Karachi rallies also expressed solidarity with the oppressed Syrian people. Protest rallies were also held in Quetta, Balochistan, Peshawar, Hangu, Gilgit, Skardu and all major cities of Punjab and Sindh provinces./end
