Putin’s special envoy for Syria actively visits Mideast countries - Peskov

MOSCOW, December 28. /TASS/. Russian president’s special envoy for the Middle East Alexander Lavrentyev is actively engaged in shuttle diplomacy, visiting various Middle East countries, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday, answering a question if Lavrentyev has visited Israel during his work. "Indeed, Lavrentyev is engaged in Syrian political settlement issues, he is really doing shuttle diplomacy in countries of the region, the countries that one way or another are involved in the political settlement process," the Russian presidential press secretary said. According to Peskov, Lavrentyev was appointed the heads of state’s special envoy for the Syrian settlement "about several weeks before the trip (of the Russian president) to Iran (the visit took place on November 23 - TASS)." "Indeed, he is now rather actively engaged in this issue and visits various countries of the region," the Kremlin spokesman said. Read more
