Putin’s visit to China will outline areas of bilateral cooperation - diplomat

BEIJING, June 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China will give a new impetus to developing bilateral relations and outline areas of further cooperation, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying told reporters on Tuesday. "We are confident that this visit will be successful and fruitful and will also give a great impetus to developing relations between China and Russia," the diplomat said. This will be Putin’s first visit to China since his re-election. During the visit, the first meeting between the two heads of state will be held this year. "The working visit has great importance for outlining new areas of developing bilateral relations and contributing to deepening cooperation in all areas," she said. Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold talks with Putin and delegation members. The sides will take part in a ceremony of signing documents and will give a joint press conference. "The heads of state will have a deep exchange of views on bilateral relations, cooperation in key areas and also issues of international and regional agenda of mutual interest. Traditionally, the sides will issue a joint statement and also sign important documents on cooperation in a number of areas," the diplomat said. The two leaders will also attend cultural and humanitarian events and exchange views in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, she noted. Putin’s visit to China Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to China and take part in a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) due to be held in the city of Qingdao on June 9-10. This year, the SCO summit will be attended for the first time by two new member-states - India and Pakistan. The organization’s member-countries also include Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Four countries - Mongolia, Iran, Afghanistan and Belarus - have observer status, while six more nations have dialogue partner status. These are Sri Lanka, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal. The summit’s main final document will be the Qingdao Declaration, which will reflect the coordinated approaches towards further development of the SCO’s activities. Read more
