Putin, Abe discuss situation in North Korea, Syria, fight against international terrorism - Kremlin

MOSCOW, January 22. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe have discussed over the phone on Friday the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the fight against international terrorism and ways of resolving the Syrian crisis, the Kremlin press service has said. "(The two sides) discussed in detail the development of the Russian-Japanese relations. They pointed to mutual interest in stepping up cooperation in the political, trade, economic, humanitarian and other fields. An agreement was reached on continuing personal contacts," the press service said. The Kremlin noted that "while exchanging views on the international agenda special attention was paid to the situation on the Korean Peninsula as well as the issues of combating international terrorism and ways of resolving the Syrian crisis."
