Putin, Abe to meet May 6 to synchronize watches over Syria ahead of G7 summit - Kremlin

MOSCOW, May 5. /TASS/. Synchronizing watches over the situation in Syria will be on the agenda of the talks Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japan’s visiting Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will hold in Sochi on May 6, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has told the media. The Kremlin official said the talks with Abe would be very important as Japan was getting ready for the G7 summit due in Ise Shima on May 26-27. "The summit will discuss crucial international problems, including the Syrian settlement. And, of course, for the Japanese Prime Minister it is very important to synchronize watches with the Russian leader in this context," Ushakov said. The set of international issues on the agenda will include a number of teams. "Quite naturally, there will be Ukraine, North Korea, Syria, and cooperation within the United Nations, because Japan in 2016-2017 will be a temporary UN Security Council member," Ushakov said.
