Putin discusses Palestinian-Israeli settlement with Saudi king

MOSCOW, September 16 /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the Palestinian-Israeli settlement with the king of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, by telephone, the Kremlin press service reported on Wednesday. The conversation took place at the Saudi side’s request. "The sides discussed the Palestinian-Israeli settlement in the light of mass clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in the territories of the Al-Aqsa mosque and the Temple Mount /in Jerusalem/," the Kremlin press service said noting the two sides had expressed reciprocal determination to promote cooperation between Russia and Saudi Arabia in priority areas. Putin and King Salman also agreed to maintain regular bilateral contacts at various levels. Putin used an opportunity to re-express his condolences to King Salman over the September 11 tragedy in the Grand Mosque of Mecca that caused great human casualties. The Palestinian-Israeli clashes on Temple Mount in Jerusalem have been on for three days. The unrest started last Sunday after a group of masked young Arabs had thrown stones at Israeli law enforcers who were trying to get inside the complex territory for a security operation. Read more
