Putin to have videoconference with Argentinian president on occasion of diplomatic relations anniversary

MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will have a videoconference with his Argentinian counterpart, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, on Wednesday, October 21, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said. "[On Wednesday, October 21] there will be a videoconference with President of Argentina Cristina Kirchner on the occasion of the anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Argentina [established in 1885]," Peskov told journalists, adding it was an important jubilee and "that is why the two heads of states agreed to hold a videoconference." In October 2014, the leaders participated in a television bridge - at that time Russia launched broadcast of its RT (Russia Today) television channel in the Spanish language in Argentina. This television channel will organise the videoconference on Wednesday, the press secretary said. Diplomatic relations between the Russian Empire and Argentina were established on October 22, 1885, terminated in October 1917, and resumed between the USSR and Argentina in 1946. In December 1991, Argentina recognised the Russian Federation as successor of the USS. Since then, Argentine leaders visited Russia four times, and Russian leaders paid two visits to Argentina. Putin visited that country in July, 2014, and Kirchner came to Russia in December 2008 and in April 2015. During the last year’s television bridge, the Russian leaders said this country and Argentina "have in common not only the 130 years of diplomatic relations, but also close interests." He said Argentina is an example to other countries in fighting for own rights. "We shall continue developing the relations, and will do everything to improve lives of our people," Putin said then.
