Putin lauds cooperation at meeting with Kyrgyz president

SOCHI, May 14. /TASS/. Cooperation between Moscow and Bishkek has been evolving quite well in a number of traditional areas, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sooronbay Jeenbekov. Putin said he was pleased at the opportunity to discuss pressing issues. "In my view, we have things to talk about, there are positive examples of cooperation. We have been working in a number of areas for a long time and they have been evolving quite well, in my opinion," the Russian president said. "Today, we will have a chance to hold a broad discussion with our colleagues on the development of cooperation within our economic organization, which, to my mind, creates conditions for expanding cooperation and interaction," Putin added. On Monday, Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi is hosting a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Jeenbekov thanked Putin for the meeting and the opportunity to discuss cooperation matters. "First of all, I would like to congratulate you on taking office as Russian president. Under your leadership, Russia has achieved huge successes and I am confident that it will make even more domestic and foreign policy achievements," Kyrgyzstan’s president said. He pointed out that since the beginning of the year, dialogue between the two countries had intensified in almost all areas and at nearly all levels. "I would like to reaffirm that Kyrgyzstan’s policy is aimed at boosting multifaceted cooperation with Russia, our strategic partner and main ally," Jeenbekov added. Read more
