Putin, Netanyahu to discuss fight against terrorism, economic cooperation - Kremlin

MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. The fight against international terrorism in the Middle East will be among the issues discussed during Thursday’s talks in the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Kremlin’s press release says. "During the talks a thorough exchange of views is expected on the topical regional issues, primarily in the light of efforts to combat international terrorism," the document says. The Kremlin noted that particular attention at the meeting would be paid to the situation in Syria. Putin and Netanyahu will also discuss the prospects for the resumption of the Israeli-Palestinian dialogue "on a generally recognized international legal basis." They will also discuss ways of boosting trade and economic ties between the two countries. It is noted that because of the unfavorable situation on the global markets and currency fluctuations the trade turnover between Russia and Israel dropped by 32% in 2015, with a 32.9-percent drop in Russian exports and a 29.4-percent drop in imports. Aircraft industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, health care and power industry are mentioned among the promising areas of bilateral cooperation. Read more
