Putin says he hopes for greater trust between countries throughout Eurasia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed the hope that the forthcoming summit of Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will contribute to boosting the atmosphere of trust on the entire continent. Speaking at a ceremony of presentation of credentials by foreign ambassadors, the Russian leader recalled that the anniversary Russia-ASEAN summit would be held in Sochi on May 19-20. "I am confident that the summit will contribute to boosting the atmosphere of trust and cooperation on the entire Eurasian space," Putin said. "We are vigorously preparing for this major international event," the president said. "It will make it possible to sum up the results of 20 years of fruitful cooperation between Russia and southeast Asian countries and identify new promising projects." "We intend to discuss the possibility of establishing cooperation between the ASEAN member-countries and the Eurasian Economic Union," Putin said.
