Putin says Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan to continue efforts to maintain regional security

BISHKEK, February 28. /TASS/. Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan continue to take joint steps aimed at maintaining security in Central Asia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a joint press conference with his Kyrgyz counterpart Almazbek Atambayev. "Ensuring security is an important part (of cooperation)," he added. "It is particularly important taking into consideration very complex processes taking place in Afghanistan, that cause us all concern," the Russian leader stressed. According to Putin, member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will continue to "coordinate joint actions and make all necessary efforts." The Russian president also said that regional security issues were thoroughly discussed during his visit to Kyrgyzstan. Read more
