Putin to take part in Normandy Four talks in Minsk - Kremlin

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Minsk, the capital of Belarus, on Wednesday to take part in the talks on the Ukrainian crisis resolution in the format of the Normandy Four, the Kremlin press service reported. The talks will also involve French and Ukrainian Presidents Francois Hollande and Pyotr Poroshenkio and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The Minsk summit is expected to be a culmination of multilateral efforts on the conflict settlement. Diplomatic efforts to find a political solution to the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine have intensified over the past week. The leaders of Germany and France travelled to Kiev on Thursday and then to Moscow on the following day with a proposal to resolve the conflict that could be "acceptable to all". Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday after five hours of talks in the Kremlin: "Judging from proposals formulated by the French president and German chancellor, the text of a possible joint document on implementing the Minsk agreements is being in the making." "The document is supposed to include proposals made by the Ukrainian president and initiatives formulated today [on Friday] and added by Russian President Vladimir Putin," Peskov said, adding that the text and the proposals would be submitted for approval to all parties to the Ukrainian conflict. Agreement to assemble the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France in Minsk was reached in a four-way telephone call on Sunday. Read more
