Putin to visit Ankara on April 3-4 - Kremlin

MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Ankara on April 3-4, 2018, at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s invitation, the Kremlin press service reported. "On April 3-4, 2018, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will visit Ankara at the invitation of President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan," the report says. The seventh meeting of the High-Level Russian-Turkish Cooperation Council will take place in the Turkish capital, the Kremlin reported. "The state and development prospects of bilateral trade-economic cooperation and the implementation of joint strategic projects, in particular in the energy sector, will be discussed. It is planned to touch on the current regional and international issues, including the joint fight against terrorism and the situation in Syria," the report says. The leaders are expected to launch the construction of the first power unit for the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant through a teleconference. During the second trilateral meeting of the Astana process guarantors Vladimir Putin will discuss with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the implementation of the agreements reached at the first trilateral summit in Sochi on November 22, 2017. According to the information released by the president’s press service, the parties will share opinions on possible additional measures to consolidate the ceasefire regime in Syria, secure the operation of the de-escalation zones, address humanitarian problems and promote political settlement. Vladimir Putin will also hold talks with Hassan Rouhani, which will focus on issues of Russian-Iranian relations and the regional and international agenda. Read more
