Putin warns of extremism threat to CIS countries

MOSCOW, June 17. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday he considered terrorism and extremism among the main threats to all former Soviet countries in the regional Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). "An analysis of the international situation shows that terrorism and extremism still remain among the main threats, affecting the national interests of our countries and the CIS interests as a whole," Putin said in a message on the occasion of the 15th anniversary since the establishment of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center. "It is important to consistently augment technical, operative and human potential of the Center and to improve coordination among all of its parts," Putin said, noting the need to "constantly share experiences and up-to-date information with counterparts from other states".
