Putin, Xi will discuss Silk Road Economic Belt on July 8

MOSCOW, July 6. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will discuss including the Silk Road Economic Belt into the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and other bilateral and international issues, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov told journalists on Monday. "Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation are at the highest over its entire history," Ushakov stressed. The meeting between the leaders will focus on integrating the Silk Road Economic Belt into EAEU, cooperation in the framework of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), coordinating international issues, the presidential aide noted. Despite a decline of trade turnover between Russia and China in 2015, "the strategic task to bring the level of bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2020 remains unchanged," Ushakov added. Read more
