Qatar’s foreign minister to visit Moscow June 9 - Russian embassy

KUWAIT CITY, June 8. /TASS/. Qatar’s foreign minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani is going to pay a visit to Moscow for talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Russian embassy in Kuwait told TASS by telephone. "The head of Qatar’s Foreign Ministry is going to visit Moscow tomorrow, on June 9 for talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov," the embassy said. Earlier, a diplomatic source told TASS Qatar’s foreign minister was planning a visit to Moscow by the end of this week. "The visit may take place on Saturday. Talks with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry are expected," the source said, adding that "acute international issues" will be in focus. On June 5 Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Libya’s transitional government, the Republic of Maldives and the Republic of Mauritius severed diplomatic relations with Doha in retaliation for what they described as Qatar’s support for terrorism and extremist ideology, its hostile policy and intervention in the affairs of Arab states. Mauritania and the Comoro Islands joined in later. Jordan and Djibouti downgraded the status of their diplomatic missions. Read more
