Qods Day Rallies More Important This Year: Scholar

Ankara, July 20, IRNA – Turkish scholar and Iranologist Kenan Camurcu said the International Qods Day rallies were of prime importance this year as Gaza is under Israeli fire and the Takfiri forces are trying to tarnish the face of Islam in Iraq and Syria. Talking to IRNA on Sunday, he said Muslims should maintain a more active presence in the International Qods Day rallies this year. Referring to the threats the Islamic world is now subject to, he said the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini practically denounced all Western-backed religious schools of thought by announcing the US as the greatest evil in the world and designating the last Friday of the holy fasting month of Ramadan as the International Qods Day. By doing so, he added, the Late Imam heralded formation of a new world order for Muslims. He stressed that the Muslims who have adhered to this ideological framework have practically managed to avoid all kinds of traps in the past three decades. He said these Muslims even succeeded in avoiding any extremist attitudes which are aimed at destroying the Islamic world from within. Cacurmu also noted that the Qods Day in fact serves not only as an occasion to remember the plight of Palestine but also, as the Supreme Leader said, as a reminder that Israeli brutal attack on Gaza is due to Muslims negligence. While the Islamic world was busy with religious disputes in Iraq and Syria, he added, the Zionist regime was involved in attacks on Muslims./end
