Rafsanjani Calls For Planning To Upgrade Iran-Sudan Ties

Tehran, Feb 17, IRNA – Chairman of Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Sunday that there are numerous capacities to enhance level of cooperation between Iran and Sudan, calling for planning in this respect. In a meeting with Sudan Parliament Speaker Fateh Ezzedin Mansour, he referred to the history of cooperation between the two countries and said that the Sudanese ideas and Islamic thoughts are praiseworthy. Describing the new Sudanese governmentˈs move to talk with opposition as an opportunity for the nation, Hashemi Rafsanjani noted that they are entitled to live in a peaceful environment. Sudan is a great country of the Muslim World, Hashemi Rafsanjani said, recalling that unity among the Sudanese people can help neutralize the enemiesˈ plots. Mansour, for his part, congratulated 35th victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, describing Iran as source of hope for the oppressed nations in the world and a backing for the Muslim World. ˈI appreciate the Islamic Republic of Iran for its wise stance in regional and global and Sudan issues,ˈ he said. He voiced his countryˈs preparedness to promote ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all the fields. Describing Iran as a major trade partner for Sudan, Mansour noted that given the two countriesˈ numerous capacities, Sudan favors promoting economic relations with Iran.
