Rafsanjani: Iran Should Regain Its Legitimate Rights, Global Status

Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA – Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Sunday that people from all walks of life should cooperate in order to help the country regain its legitimate rights and global status. This is among legitimate rights of all Iranians to retake their real cultural and economic status in the contemporary world, he said. Referring to the Sacred Defense Week, he said martyrs were the most precious assets who dedicated their lives to Islam and their country. The events taking place during eight years of Sacred Defense are parts of glorious history of this nation, he said. Nowhere in the world can you find such a struggle that a newly born revolution and the country’s youths have become the target of the global arrogance, he said. Referring to financial aid provided to the former Iraqi regime in its war on Iran, Rafsanjani said the brave Iranian people proved that they deserved military victories in the battlefields as well a political triumph at the United Nations. The country is now indebted to the sacrifices of the martyrs, he said./end
