Rahimi: Iran, DPRK Axis Of Resistance Against Imperialism

Tehran, Sept 2, IRNA – First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Democratic People's Republic of Korea are the axis of resistance against imperialism. Rahimi made the remarks in a meeting with DPRK's President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly Kim Yong-nam who was in Tehran for the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit. During Iran's 3-year presidency of NAM, cooperation among those countries with anti-imperialism tendencies will be strengthened, Rahimi said. Relations between Iran and DPRK are expanding, he said and called for further promotion of bilateral ties and cooperation in all fields. He called for exchange of delegations between the two countries to help implement agreements signed by the two sides. Current volume of trade exchange between the two countries is not satisfactory, he said and called for more efforts and timely plans to increase the figure, Rahimi said. The DPRK official, for his part, called for expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries. International developments require bolstering of relations between the two countries, he said, adding that Iran and DPRK share common stands in their struggle with imperialism and are determined to remain committed to their lofty goals./end
