Rahimi: Syrian Crisis Must Be Resolved Through Political Talks

Tehran, Jan 17, IRNA – First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi said on Wednesday that political talks is the only means to help resolve Syrian crisis. Rahimi made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Syrian Premier Wael al-Halaqi. Rahimi said restoration of peace and tranquility in the country will be merely accomplished through political talks between the government and political groups. After signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries, the Iranian and Syrian officials attended a joint press conference. Rahimi highlighted talks with senior Syrian officials in the past two days and said the two officials discussed avenues to broaden economic, commercial, political, cultural and health care cooperation between the two countries. The Iranian and Syrian experts agreed to continue with cooperation in various fields, Rahimi said. Rahimi expressed the hope that the current conflict and crisis being masterminded by the enemies would end as soon as possible and all witness restoration of peace, stability and tranquility in Syria./end
