Ramadan Abdullah: Oslo Accord brought misery for Palestinian people

Tehran, Dec 12, IRNA - Secretary-General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Ramadan Abdullah said on Monday that Oslo Accord after 23 years brought misery for the Palestinian people. He made the remarks in a joint press conference with the Head of Strategic Research Center at the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati. He said that they exchanged views on a 10-point initiative for the movement calling for continued resistance and cancellation of Oslo Accord which envisaged recognition of Zionist regime. The Islamic Republic of Iran has welcomed the plan and always backed the Palestinian resistance movement to retake their land from occupying forces as the country belongs to Palestinians nation, Ramadan Abdullah said. He expressed the hope that all Islamic and Arab states to take lessons from the Islamic Republic of Iran supporting Palestinian resistance to the Israeli occupation and the bullying powers. 'We appreciate the stand adopted by Iran for backing Palestinian people and resistance,' he said. Head of Strategic Research Center at the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati, said the Palestinian envoy will visit Iranian officials and that in the meeting the two sides reviewed regional developments mainly those of Palestine. Velayati said that they discussed the 10-point initiative proposed by Secretary-General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Ramadan Abdullah with regards to Arab world in general and Palestine in particular. Withdrawal from Oslo Accord and on the contrary, the steps taken by some Arab states or some Palestinians to recognize the Zionist regime were among topics discussed in the meeting, Velayati said. Latest statistics indicate that about 65 percent of the Palestinians are pro-Ramadan Abdullah plan which got approval of Palestinian intellectuals, he said. Oslo Accord was the first face-to-face agreement inked between Zionist regime and Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1993 obliging Tel Aviv regime to recognize Palestinian state, stop seizure of the Palestinian lands and demolition of their houses, inter alia to recognize Zionist regime. 1378/IRNA
