Regional Co-op, Vital Need For Security, PG Stability

Tehran, Oct 15, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone conversation on Monday with Omani King Sultan Qaboos called for continued cooperation among regional governments to help maintain security and stability of the Persian Gulf. The two officials exchanged views on ways to expad mutual relations and cooperate on issues of mutual interests as well as regional issues. They also felicitated each other on the auspicious Eid al-Adha called Feast of the Sacrifice and wished for success and prosperity of the two Muslim nations. Referring to the recent visit of Omani king to Iran and its positive impacts on consolidation of relations between the two countries, Rouhani said Iran’s foreign policy is based on peace and justice and the country is to broaden relations with the world countries. President Rouhani urged enhanced ties and cooperation between the two countries along with the Persian Gulf littoral states on maintaining the security and tranquility of the Persian Gulf region. “We are very happy to witness that the two countries have been situated on both sides of Strait of Hormuz and will spare no effort to improve situation in the Persian Gulf region,” Rouhani said./end
