Regional issues deep-rooted in Palestine occupation: Iranian president

TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) – President Rouhani, while blaming occupation of Palestine for regional problems, said world public opinion condemns the tyranny and aggression of the Zionist regime. Hassan Rouhani made the remarks on Monday while receiving the credentials of the Jordan newly-appointed Ambassador to Iran. Rouhani maintained that world of Islam attached high importance to the fate of Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque as the first Muslim Qibla, adding that gradual occupation of Jerusalem and the expulsion of the Palestinians from their homeland have disturbed the conscience of all Muslims. “It is completely unacceptable that Jerusalem remain in occupation of usurpers,” Rouhani underlined. Iran`s president pointed to the geographical situation and proximity of Jordan to the Palestinian territories, Syria and Iraq, as well as the issue of terrorism and instability in some regional countries and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to establish stability and security in the Middle East and to resolve the issue of Palestine.” He also expressed Iran’s willingness to boost economic, cultural and political ties with Jordan, hoping the presence of the new Jordanian ambassador would begin a new chapter in the two countries’ bilateral relations. Abdullah Sulaiman Abdullah Abu Rumman, while welcoming boosting of ties with Iran, said that Jordan sees Islamic Republic of Iran as an influential country in the region. In addition to Jordanian ambassador, Rouhani also received the credentials of newly-appointed ambassadors of Kenya and North Korea. In his meeting with the Kenyan ambassador, President Rouhani condemned the spread of terrorism in the Middle East and Africa, saying the inhumane atrocities by Boko Haram terrorists had affected people throughout the world. Both countries also stressed the strengthening of ties in economic, scientific and cultural fields. While receiving the North Korean ambassador, Rouhani highlighted the importance of unity among the two Koreas, underlying that war, conflict and tension are not the solution to the issues raised among the two countries.
