Regional nations should be vigilant against plots - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has advised regional nations and governments to be alert to the plots devised by the enemies, MNA reported. Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Tehran on Thursday. Commenting on the recent developments, Ahmadinejad said that the Islamic republic regards principles like freedom, justice, democracy, and self-determination as the basic rights of all peoples around the world. The rights of people should be recognized, and governments should meet people's demands and aspirations, he stated. He also said that the Islamic Republic will safeguard the rights of all people against "occupiers and the greedy powers" and will always side with regional nations and all freedom-seekers in the world. Iran and Turkey together can facilitate the establishment of regional peace and stability, he said, adding that Tehran welcomes the continuation of consultations with Ankara at various levels. During the meeting, Davutoglu described the Islamic republic's role in the region and the world as constructive and said that Turkey is also keen to continue consultations and promote cooperation with Iran in various areas. He said that Turkey regards the developments occurring in the region as Islamic awakening and believes that the imperialists' efforts to penetrate the developments are damaging to the Muslim world. Islamic awakening has unlocked Muslim nations' potential against U.S. In a separate meeting with Davutoglu on Thursday, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili said that the Islamic awakening has unlocked the Muslim nations' potential against the United States and Israel. Jalili emphasized the importance of the synergy between the Islamic Republic and Turkey and said it will definitely benefit the Muslim world. Davutoglu said that Iran plays a major role in regional and international arenas and called for expansion of ties between Tehran and Ankara.
